After Forever foi uma banda holandesa de metal sinfônico, metal gótico e metal progressivo formada em 1995 por Sander Gommans e Mark Jansen. Em fevereiro de 2009, o grupo encerrou as atividades e a vocalista Floor Jansen iniciou sua própria banda, ReVamp, pouco depois.

A banda foi originalmente fundada em 1995 sob o nome Apocalypse, e o seu gênero era orientado ao death metal. Com a entrada da vocalista Floor Jansen em 1997, o estilo do grupo mudou para o metal sinfônico, a fim de dar ênfase à voz soprano de Jansen, em contraste com os vocais dos fundadores Sander Gommans e Mark Jansen. A formação da banda naquele momento era composta por Floor, Sander, Mark, Luuk van Gerven, Jack Driessen e Joep Beckers.
Em 1999, a banda começou a compor canções próprias e gravaram duas demos intituladas Ephemeral e Wings of Illusion, que eventualmente chamaram a atenção da gravadora holandesa Transmission Records, com quem a banda assinou um contrato. O seu álbum de estreia, Prison of Desire, foi gravado em 2000, e contou com a participação da cantora Sharon den Adel da banda Within Temptation na canção 'Beyond Me'; o disco obteve boas críticas na Europa. Ao fim daquele ano, o baterista André Borgman e o tecladista Lando van Gils juntaram-se à banda, substituindo Joep Beckers e Jack Driessen, respectivamente.
Em 2001, o álbum Decipher foi lançado, contendo pela primeira vez instrumentos clássicos e um coral. Os arranjos complexos das novas composições colocaram a banda como ícones do metal sinfônico. No ano seguinte, Mark Jansen, um dos principais compositores e cofundador, deixou o After Forever, formando a banda Epica posteriormente. No mesmo ano, Bas Maas entrou para o grupo como guitarrista, e em 2003 a nova formação lançou o EP Exordium com seis faixas, entre elas um cover da canção 'The Evil That Men Do' do Iron Maiden e o clip de 'My Choice' na versão em DVD.
Mais tarde em 2004, o tão aguardado álbum conceitual Invisible Circles foi disponibilizado; o disco que lida com traumas da infância e abusos, introduziu elementos do metal progressivo na música do After Forever e alcançou a 24ª posição nas paradas holandesas. Pouco depois, Lando van Gils deixou a banda e foi substituído por Joost van den Broek. Enquanto realizavam os concertos para a promoção de Invisible Circles, o grupo gravou e lançou o álbum Remagine em Setembro de 2005. O disco conteve 12 faixas e o instrumental foi gravado no Excess Studio em Roterdam, enquanto os vocais, trechos clássicos e mixagem foram feitos no Gate Studio na Alemanha, sob a produção de Sascha Peath e Miro em Wolfsburg.
Em 3 de março de 2006, a banda deixou a Transmission Records devido à escassa promoção que a gravadora estava a oferecer aos álbuns do grupo. Após a separação, o selo lançou a compilação Mea Culpa com conteúdos raros e especiais. Em outubro do mesmo ano a banda assinou com a famosa gravadora alemã Nuclear Blast, e ao final daquele ano gravaram o seu último álbum, After Forever, que contou com as participações de Jeff Waters do Annihilator e Doro Pesch. O disco foi liberado no mercado em 23 de abril de 2007 e gerou a famosa canção 'Energize Me'.
Em janeiro de 2008, o After Forever anunciou no seu website que a banda entraria num período de hiato por pelo menos um ano, devido aos problemas de saúde de Sander Gommers. Numa entrevista à rádio Ragnarök, Floor disse que os integrantes se reuniriam no início de 2009 para discutir o futuro da banda. Porém no dia 5 de fevereiro de 2009, um comunicado anunciou o fim do grupo, e segundo eles, a pausa entre 2008 e 2009 fizeram-nos perceber que não possuíam mais energia para continuar. Após a separação, os integrantes do grupo continuaram com os seus projetos paralelos, e a vocalista Floor Jansen formou a sua própria banda ReVamp, sendo também anunciada como terceira vocalista da banda finlandesa Nightwish em outubro de 2013. Saga é uma banda canadense de Rock progressivo sinfônico formada em Oakville, Ontario, em 1977. O baixista e tecladista Jim Crichton e o vocalista Michael Sadler tem sido os principais compositores da banda. Ian Crichton é o guitarrista, e fora seu trabalho no Saga já gravou vários álbuns solo assim como sessões com a banda Asia. O tecladista Jim 'Daryl' Gilmour substituiu Greg Chadd em 1980 (Chadd substituiu o membro original Peter Rochon após o primeiro álbum). Ao todo a banda já vendeu cerca de 8 milhões de cópias.

Após a turnê de 2003 Marathon, Steve Negus anunciou sua saída da banda, sendo substituído por Christian Simpson no álbum Network (2004), até adoecer por problemas neurológicos que o impediram de continuar na banda. No final de 2005 o ex-integrante do Helix Brian Doerner se tornou o terceiro baterista do Saga.

Conhecidos originalmente por The Pockets, o Saga foi formado em 1977 a partir do integrantes da popular banda de rock canadense Fludd. Em junho de 1978 lançaram o auto intitulado álbum de estreia. Com sucesso modesto em sua terra natal, acabou vendendo acima de 300 mil cópias na Alemanha. O segundo álbum Images at Twilight os forneceu seu primeiro hit no Canadá com o single It's Time. O terceiro álbum Silent Knight foi lançado em 1980.
Em 1981 o quarto álbum Worlds Apart foi lançado. O single Wind Him Up, uma canção sobre um apostador compulsivo, foi um grande hit. O segundo single On the Loose também foi bem sucedido, principalmente nos Estados Unidos.

O quinto álbum Heads or Tales foi lançado no final de 1983 e se tornou outro sucesso. O single The flyer foi bem tanto no Canadá quanto nos Estados Unidos (neste último se tornando o último grande hit da banda).
O sexto álbum Behaviour foi lançado em 1985, e lançou hits como Listen to Your Heart e What Do I Know.

Em 1986 Steve Negus e Jim Gilmour deixaram a banda, gravando um álbum juntos como Gilmour-Negus Project. Enquanto isso o Saga continuava com Michael Sadler e os irmãos Crichton como músicos convidados.
O lançamento de 1987 Wildest Dreams teve grande distribuição pela gravadora Atlantic Records, mas falhou em vendas nos Estados Unidos. No álbum The Beginner's Guide to Throwing Shapes (1989), a banda focou em sua popularidade na Europa no começo da carreira, marcando a volta do estilo progressivo na banda. Em 1993 Steve Negus e Jim Gilmour voltaram à banda.
O próximo álbum The Security of Illusion foi bem recebido pelos fãs canadenses e europeus. O álbum seguinte Steel Umbrellas foi considerado desproporcional aos anteriores.
